The History of H.F.D.
The Hutchinson Fire Department boasts a long and proud tradition. Organized in 1884, the department provides Emergency Services to the Cities of Hutchinson, Biscay, and Cedar Mills, Minnesota, and the townships of Hutchinson, Hassan Valley, Acoma, Lynn, Collins, Boon Lake, Cedar Mills, and Ellsworth.
As the community changes and grows our 35 member department strives to keep pace with improved equipment, better training, and greater fire prevention campaigns.

Officer Only Response
In 2004, Hutchinson Fire Department implemented a “pilot program” for officer only responses on minor calls that do not require a full department response.
This program was developed to keep our firefighters working at their full time jobs and save tax dollars. In the first year, it saved Hutchinson taxpayers over $14,200 alone! It has progressively saved more money per year including over $30,000 in 2007.
