Fire Prevention Efforts
“There is no honor in fighting a fire that could have been prevented.”
For that reason many hours of fire prevention training are provided in the local elementary schools, early childhood programs, and daycares, as well as the senior high rise and assisted living facilities in the community. As the “students” take home what they learn the community becomes a safer place.
Hopefully our prevention efforts stop property loss before it can start, and more importantly eliminate fire related deaths in the community. The “student” who receive fire prevention training help us keep the big fires on the training ground.

Project Lifesaver
“Project Lifesaver” gives us the ability to use technology to locate those that have a tendency to wander. Traditionally those that have a tendency to wander are the Alzheimer, dementia, and autistic or Down syndrome citizens.
“Project Lifesaver” allows rescuers to place personalized radio transmitters on the person and if they go missing, rescue personnel can quickly activate the location tracking device and locate them. Nationwide average rescue time is less than 30 minutes.
This program was started in the Hutchinson Fire District and spread to the remainder of McLeod County, with the hope of continuing the growth to the surrounding counties.
