The Creekside Soils Compost Facility is a City owned and operated source separated organics, yard waste, wood waste, and bagging operation. The facility has been in serivce since 2001. The 24-acre site provides a service for the residents of Hutchinson and McLeod County. All accepted materials listed below are accepted at no charge with the exception of source separated organics and dirty concrete. The materials are pocessed to provide high grade compost and mulch products that are used by homeowners, nurseries, and landscapers and sold to dealers who distribute and market in retail stores.
FACILITY ACCEPTED ITEMS
Yard Waste Area:
- Leaves, grass clippings, and other garden debris.
Brush & Log Areas:
- Tree limbs 5″ or less in dameter.
- Clean wood material greater thatn 6″ in diameter.
Concrete/Blacktop:
- Clean no REBAR
- Dirty for a fee

Summer Hours:
April 1st – November Daylight Savings
- 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday
- 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Saturday
Winter Hours:
November Daylight Savings – March 31st
- 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday
November Daylight Savings – November 30th
- 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Saturday
