SANITARY SEWER NOTICE

Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus)concerns, there
has been a shortage of toilet paper on store shelves.
This may cause people to look for alternative products
to use such as paper towels, facial tissues, baby wipes,
‘flushable wipes’ and other similar items.  These products
are not designed like toilet paper, nor do they break down in the same manner in the collection system.  This can cause sanitary sewer backups, which in turn can cause additional public health concerns.

The City of Hutchinson Wastewater Treatment Facility will continue to operate normally as an essential service to our residents.  However, should suspected illnesses require that individual staff members need to be quarantined; a reduction of staff available for work may be experienced.  It now becomes imperative that the public do everything possible to negate collection system emergencies due to the flushing of improper materials during this time frame.  Treatment plant staff would like to thank our residents, business owners and visiting public in advance for your cooperation in this effort.

PLEASE DO not FLUSH ITEMS OTHER THAN
TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILET.
